대학 교양수업에서 창의적 시 읽기를 통한 세계관의 확장 = Expansion of Students’ Universe Perspective Through Creative Poetry Reading in College Liberal Arts Courses

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines the possibility of the world-view expansion (of college students) through a poetry study as one of the literature studies in the liberal arts courses to clarify how humans and non-humans can cohabitate and communicate. The study argues the following two points.
First, the class offers a team project to tackle a theme question — “Can poetry change the world” — to provide an entertainment aspect of the experience of poetry for team members who are students from non-literature majors, who do not often experience poetry. It provides diversified angles on reading poetry and offers new perspectives from a Procrustean bed of pre-college education experience. There is a greater possibility of poetry studies being developed and amplified if they included elements from the design phase of general liberal arts courses.
Second, to provide an effective poetry class design, it needs to include pragmatic understanding from the students. An armchair theory cannot be sustained by MZ generation students, even though the principle of college education is to seek the truth. The class needs to utilize the benefits of literature studies to emphasize a link between human beings and not only the community but also the macro universe, which should be a responsibility of college education.
Through liberal arts general education courses, it is possible to discover that a person’s effort, including one’s curriculum, is related to solving the world’s “wicked problem,” when the reverse perspective works toward individualism in modern society.
Therefore, utilizing poetry embedding diversified narratives strengthens creative thinking and constitutes a tool for the problem-solving experience. The students could have communal experiences from multiple perspectives of the universe, which could also be expanded to one’s mission in the curriculum.
The liberal arts general education courses could be developed as a vision’s priming water that finds mutual ground among pragmatic issues using multiple approaches by the students. Poetry can be an object that considers technical and realistic “wicked problems” of society through questions from the liberal arts perspective. In class, poetry becomes a genre that can dynamically communicate multiple perspectives of the universe using various channels, including social networks, based on its empathetic ability.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 인간과 비인간의 공존과 소통을 위한 교육 방법으로 교양교육의 위 치에서 문학, 그 중 시(poetry)를 통해 세계관의 확장이 가능함을 살펴보았다. 교양필수인 ‘창조적 사고와 표현’ 교양수업에서는 전공수업에서 다루는 시의 접 근과는 다르게 학습자와 교수가 다양한 방식으로 시를 읽고 현실과의 접점을 찾 을 수 있다.
본고는 시를 이해하는 방식으로 ‘시는 세상을 바꿀 수 있는가(Can poetry change the world?)’ 라는 구체적인 질문을 화두로 주고 이에 대한 팀들의 다양한 답을 창의적으로 찾도록 발표과제를 주었다. 이에 대한 본고의 결론은 다음과 같다.
첫째, ‘시는 세상을 바꿀 수 있는가(Can poetry change the world?)’ 라는 화두를 해결하는 과정에서 일반적으로 시를 접하기 어려운 전공의 학생들은 팀플을 통해 재미있게 시를 감상하게 되었다. 이는 다양한 전공자가 모여 진 행하는 팀플 과정에서 다양한 시 읽기가 가능하다는 것을 학생들 스스로 깨닫게 되며, 대학 이전의 정답 맞추기식인 획일화된 문학 감상을 지양하게 된다.
둘째, 그러기 위해서는 시를 현실적으로 공감할 수 있도록 수업설계가 이루어 져야 한다. 본고에서는 시(문학)의 메타포를 활용하여 개인과 사회, 나아가 인 류와 지구 전체의 문제 해결에 도움을 줄 수 있다는 것을 학생들 스스로가 찾을 수 있도록 수업설계를 하였다. 다양한 서사를 내재한 문학의 메타포가 가장 많 은 시 장르를 학생들이 이해하는 경험은 이들의 창의역량을 강화하며 현실적 문 제 해결과 유관함을 이해할 수 있는 좋은 도구가 된다. 이를 통해 학생들은 다 양한 세계관을 상호 경험하며 전공과목으로 확장하게 된다.
교육은 끊임없는 질문과 답을 찾는 과정이다. 답을 찾았다면 이를 현실적으로 지속가능한 실천을 이어가야 할 의무가 집단지성인에게는 있다. 교양 교육은 이 러한 세계관을 배양시키는 학문공동체의 산파 역할을 담당해야 한다.
