<AbsText> IN my introduction to the autumn meeting of this club, I remarked on the perseverance shown by the joint secretaries, Messrs Deans and Begbie, in their efforts to improve the position of the club in the public estimation. The Dirleton is the oldest exisiting club in Scotland, and one around which cluster many pleasant memories. Nowhere in the three kingdoms could finer ground be found for holding a coursing meeting; the fields are all large, the hares fairly plentiful, and the gentlemen farmers most enthusiastic in their appreciation of the sport, although, at the present moment, only Mr Ford, the genial tenant of Fenton Barns, owns a grey-hound. </AbsText>
