기형도 시에 나타난 ‘외로움’의 양상과 의미 = A study on the 'loneliness' in Ki Hyeong-do's poetry

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고의 목적은 기형도 시세계의 흐름을 ‘외로움’을 중심으로 살펴봄으로써 시기적 차이와 지향하고자 한 바를 밝히는 데 있다. 주지하다시피 기형도는 생을 일찍 마감하면서 활동기간 역시 짧다. 그에 따라 유고시집 󰡔입 속의 검은 잎󰡕을 중심으로 다뤄지면서 기형도의 시세계가 명확하게 제시된 바 있지만 배제된 작품 역시 적지 않다. 또한 공시적인 관점에서 접근하게 되면서 시세계의 변화에 대해서는 조명받지 못했다. 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 기형도의 시를 시기순으로 재구성하여 접근하였다. 개별 작품의 세부적인 시기가 정확하지 않다는 한계가 있지만, 핵심은 등단 이전 1978년 작품과 작고 직전 1989년 작품 간 차이가 있다는 점이다.
기형도 시에서 ‘외로움’은 대상으로부터 소외된 상태만을 의미하는 것이 아닌 자신이 선택한 것으로의 전환이 이루어진다. 그에 따라 기형도의 시에서는 자신의 ‘인생을 증오’할뿐 그 책임을 타인에게 전가하지 않는다. 또한 선택의 결과로 비롯된 ‘이미 늙음’의 상태에 대해 이전으로 되돌아갈 수 없는. ‘극복 불가능함’을 인지하면서 동시에 타자와의 ‘소통가능성’을 열어둔다. 기형도의 시에서 ‘외로움’은 좌절과 불안, 절망으로 귀결되는 것이 아닌 선택과 그에 따른 책임을 스스로 짊어지고자 하는 시적 주체의 윤리적 태도에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to reveal the difference in time and what he wanted to pursue by examining the flow of Ki Hyeong-do's poetry world with a focus on 'loneliness'. As is well known, Ki Hyeong-do's life ended early and his active period was also short. Accordingly, Ki Hyeong-do's poetic world has been clearly presented, focusing on the posthumous poetry collection “Black Leaf in the Mouth” , but there are not a few works that have been excluded. Also, as he approached from a synchronic point of view, the changes in the poetic world were not illuminated. Based on this critical mind, Ki Hyeong-do's poems were reconstructed and approached in chronological order. There is a limitation that the detailed period of individual works is not accurate, but the key point is that there is a difference between the work in 1978 before debut and the work in 1989 immediately before his death.
In Ki Hyeong-do's poems, 'loneliness' does not mean only the state of alienation from the object, but a transition to what one chooses. Accordingly, in Ki Hyeong-do's poems, he only 'hated his life' but did not transfer the responsibility to others. Also, it is impossible to go back to the state of 'already old' that came as a result of the choice. Recognizing the ‘impossibility of overcoming’, at the same time opening the ‘possibility of communication’ with others. The meaning and significance of ‘loneliness’ in Ki Hyeong-do’s poetry is not in frustration, anxiety, or despair, but in the ethical attitude of the poetic subject who wants to take responsibility for the choice and its consequences.
