한국판 청소년 남성성 의미 척도(K-MAMS)의 타당화 = Validation of the Korean Version Meanings of Adolescent Masculinity Scale(K-MAMS)

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study sought to validate the Korean version of the Meanings of Adolescent Masculinity Scale(MAMS). The items originally developed by Oransky and Fisher(2009) went through a translation and back-translation procedure to be adapted. The preliminary tests were administered to 202 7th to 9th grade boys and the exploratory factor analysis(EFA) was conducted. With a sample of 329 7th to 9th grade boys, descriptive statistics and EFA were conducted and 14 items were retained in the final scale. The same four factors were extracted as the original scale: Social Teasing, Maintaining Manliness, Emotional Restriction, and Avoidance of Femininity. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) showed that the bi-factor model best fits the data. Concurrent and convergent validity were supported by significant correlations between K-MAMS and existing measures of male gender role conflict, aggression, self-esteem, and state anxiety. In addition, using the latent mean analysis, the significant grade differences were obtained in middle school boys’ masculinity. The implications of the findings were discussed along with this study’s limitations and suggestions for further research.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 청소년의 남성성을 측정하는 도구인 청소년 남성성 의미 척도(Meanings of Adolescent Masculinity Scale: MAMS)를 국내 타당화하고자 하였다. Oransky와 Fisher(2009)에 의해 개발된 문항을 번역과 역번역의 과정을 거쳐 번안하였고, 중학교 1∼3학년 남학생 202명을 대상으로 예비조사를 실시한 후 탐색적 요인분석를 실시하였다. 본 조사에서는 중학교 1∼3학년 학생 329명을 대상으로 설문을 실시한 후 기술통계와 탐색적 요인분석 결과 최종 14문항이 확정되었다. K-MAMS는 원척도와 동일하게 4요인(놀리기, 남자다움 유지, 감정억제, 여성성 회피)을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 확인적 요인분석 결과, K-MAMS의 내적 요인구조로 이중요인 모형(bi-factor model)이 가장 적절한 것으로 확인되었다. 공인 및 수렴 타당도는 K-MAMS와 남성 성역할 갈등, 공격성, 자아존중감, 상태불안과의 상관관계를 통해 검증하였다. 또한 잠재평균분석을 통하여 중학교 남학생의 남성성을 학년별로 비교하였다. 논의에서 연구의 의의 및 제한점을 논하였다.
