A sedimentological study to conglomerates composing of lower part of the Duwon Formation was performed in the Daeseo area, Goheung. The study includes grain size distribution, sedimentary facies, and shape of gravels in two conglomerate dominating outcrops of the area. The conglomerate deposits are composed of mG, gGS, gsGS and lMT facies. The conglomerates are assigned to pebble ones. Gravels in the conglomerates are moderately sorted, positively skewed and leptokurtic in textural parameters. In addition, those gravels most1y show equant, rounded and highly spherical shapes. And the gravels are quartzite, meta-sandstone, vein-quartz and volcanic rocks in composition.
Synthesizing above results, it is considered that above conglomerates dominating sediments were deposited in the proximal part of the fan, but the deposits influenced by another flows and tectonic movements. The deposits were originated from the high terrains of Precambrian metamorphic complex.
