아리스토텔레스의 수사학의 유용성에서 운위되는 진리에 관하여 - 하재홍 교수가 제기한 의문에 답함 - = On the Truth in the Usefulness of Rhetoric - An Answer to Professor Ha Jai-Hong’s Objections -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article attempts to respond to Professor Ha Jai-Hong’s objections, focusing on the three issues. The first question is whether the truth is inherently stronger than the opposite. Secondly, if judgments are not made as they should be, something is necessarily defeated; what is the subject of defeat: truth itself or the speakers or pleaders? The last question is whether the truth, discussed in the usefulness of rhetoric, really is or not. Regarding the first question, I believe that the truth is inherently stronger than the opposite because it is self-evident. Second, if it is defeated in public speech, in my opinion, it is precisely the speaker, not the truth itself, that which is defeated. Finally, I believe that the rhetorical truth that is perceptible can be realized in practice.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 하재홍 교수가 그의 논문(2019)에서 제기한 이의와 의문 가운데서 다음 세 가지 물음에 초점을 맞춰 답한다. 첫째는 진리(와 정의)가 본성상 그것과 반대되는 것보다 힘이 세다는 게 사실인가이고, 둘째는 공적연설의 장에서 이기는 편이 있는가 하면 지는 편이 있는 바, 지는 경우, 진리가 지는 것인가, 아니면 진리를 주장하는 연설가가 지는 것인가이다. 마지막 셋째는 수사학의 유용성에서 운위되는 진리의 실재 여부를 묻는 물음이다. 먼저 진리의 우월성 물음과 관련하여 나는 진리의 자명함을 근거로 우월하다고 긍정한다. 둘째로, 공적연설의 장에서 진리가 졌다거나 진리가 이겼다고 하지만 그것은 진리를 의인화해서 그렇게 말하는 것일 뿐, 이기더라도 연설가가 이기는 것이고 지더라도 연설가가 지는 것이다. 끝으로 수사학적 진리는 지각적인 것으로서 구체적으로 실재한다고 나는 믿는다.
