문자의 추상성을 이용한 도자표현 연구-이응로 화백의 문자추상을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

문자는 민족성이나 역사 그리고 문화와 같은 총체적 집합의 반영물이다. 이것들은 나라에 따라 그들 나름대로의 독자적인 구조를 가지고 있고, 시간이 흐르며 그 가치가 변하면서 그때마다 형태와 기능이 새롭게 변모해 왔다. 문자는 오랜 시간 복잡한 과정을 거쳐 그 형이 완성되었고, 그 형은 응용되는 과정에서 새로운 조형으로 탄생되었다. 인간의 생활과 문화 사고가 그대로 함축되어 있는 문자는 현대에 이르러서 예술 활동에 있어서 주요한 창작 모티브(Motive)로 삼게 되었다. 또한 문자는 형과 뜻이 합일을 벗어나 그 뜻과 모양이 해체된 새로운 기호이자 조형미로서의 의미를 가지게 되었다. 의미전달의 수단이 아닌 변형, 과장, 확대 단순화의 과정을 거쳐 재조명된 창작의 소재이다. 본 논문은 시대적 상황이나 양식을 구축하며 현대화 속에 문자의 추상성이 조형적인 시각으로 잘 표현되어지는가를 연구하였다. 문자의 의미와 근원, 조형성에 대해 알아보고, 문자의 추상적 특성과 표현의 한 예로 이응로(굃應걚, 1904-1989)화백의 문자추상을 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본인의 도자조형 세계를 구축하고, 예술성과 실용성을 겸비한 재료와 기법 연구를 함께 진행하였다. 본 연구자는 예전의 작품에서 문자의 형을 강조하였다면 이번 작품에서는 상징적인 존재로서 문자의 율동성과 추상성을 살리고 색채를 더하였다. 새로운 시대로의 도약은 또 다른 문화적 생명을 탄생시킨다는 결론은 얻으면서, 문자의 추상성을 주제로 한 본 연구를 통해 사회적, 문화적 의미를 되새기고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

A character is a reflection of history and a culture on the whole. It has its own structure along nations and as time passed the value, function, and the form of the character have changed. Characters could get final, completed shapes through a long, complicated process and the shape created a new form in the application process. In modern times, the characters which imply a human life and culture become an important creative motive in art activities. In addition, the characters began to have meanings as new symbols and formative beauty with breaking up the meanings and forms. The Character is not just a means of communication but a material of creation which has been re-highlighted within the process of transformation, exaggeration, expansion and simplification. This thesis built the situation or the mode of the times through art works and made a close study on which abstraction of the character is well-described with the formative aspect in modernization. The thesis studied on the meaning, the origin and the formative element with researching on character abstraction of Lee Eun-roh for an example. Base on the research, the writer constructed own formative art in ceramics and processed the study on the materials which is artistic and practical and the expression methods. The writer once focused on the formative aspect of characters in the previous works and tried to express the lines of characters with various colors added in the works from this research. The study finally arrives at the conclusion that the take-off to a new era gives a birth to another cultural life and emphasizes the social and cultural meaning of the characters.
