  The Bible contains a revelation from God.--Though communicated to the world in parcels at different times, through the long period of fifteen centuries, it reveals but one system of doctrinal and practical religion. If then the question be asked, why so many systems have been embraced and propagated in the world, fundamentally different from that, which has been delivered to us by the inspired writers, and contradictory to each other; the only answer which can be given, is found in the declaration of an inspired Apostle; "Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.
