This paper presents a team based approach to mechatronics system design courses that attempt to make the educational experience more closely related to what the students will find in the industrial setting. The primary goal of this paper is to give a systematic description of a few mechatronic technology examples that provide the building blocks of sensors, modeling, data acquisition and control.
Typical examples discussed in the paper are Mechatronics Technology Demonstrator using damped oscillator system, Real Time Embedded Vibration Monitoring and Control, Thrust Control for Rocket Propulsion, Active Noise Control, and Time Delay Heat Blowers. The ideas and techniques developed during theinterdisciplinary simulation process provide the ideal conditions to raise synergy and provide a catalytic effect for discovering new and simpler solutions to traditionally complex problems.
Mechatronic products exhibit performance characteristics that were previously difficult to achieve without this synergistic combination.
