This thesis discussed how poem reading relate performance assessment in the spot of poem lesson, how a student embody critic about poem text. For this, this thesis discussed a student`s poem reading of poem lesson in perspectives of critical reading, then, critical reading divide interpretive reading and formative reading, examined how performance assessment be accomplished about this reading. For being accomplished of assessment in poem education. it is requested literary competence of literary teacher and qualitative change of literary experience. new perspective and strategy about assessment ways, classroom discourse must be formed for student`s literary competence and literary experience. For this, poem education does not remain analysis about poem text, For this, poem education does not remain analysis about poem text, requests critical reading that does and does not regard in the same light, about formed sense in the text based on close reading and reflects self-life. Viewing this perspective, performance assessment in literary field is not intense different with performance assessment of language education, has close relation. Also, performance assessment of literary field is not different with speaking, hearing, reading, writing but is mutual integrated. But performance assessment of literary field as coordinate action of understanding and acceptance about literary text, is more essential. Essential reason that teaches and learns literary text, is for that reflects self life and forms newly self life based on understanding and acceptance literary text.
