This study aims to verify the effectiveness of communication program on the improvement of interpersonal ability, the decrease of relationship stress, and the improvement of work satisfaction of employees. For this purpose, the following research problems have been established.
First, does the communication program for employees improve interpersonal ability of employees?
Second, does the communication program for employees decrease interpersonal stress of employees?
Third, does the communication program for employees improve work satisfaction of employees?
In order to verify the above research problems, 24 employees who are interested in communication training residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a waiting control group, with 12 subjects per group. The employees communication program, which was composed of 8 sessions (1 session: 120 minutes, total 16 hours), was executed to an experimental group, while no measures were executed on a control group. In order to verify effects of the program, a pilot survey was executed on the experimental group and the waiting control group before the progressing program. The post-survey was executed after experiment, and post examination was executed 4 weeks after the program in order to sustain program effects.
To measure interpersonal ability, interpersonal relationships change scale criterion was used, which is presented in thesis of Hye-sook Jang (2002) that was based on the revision by Sun-mo Moon. And interpersonal stress test tool based on study of Jong-chul Baek (2008) which was revised and complemented contents of Cooper & Marshall(1986), Matteson & Ivancevich(1982) and Copper & Marshall(1986) in light of the domestic environments was used. Measurement of work satisfaction was based on the study of Sang-gum Lee (1996) which had used MSQ (Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire) developed in Minnesota industrial research center and had executed translation and revision in light of the domestic environments.
T-verification was executed on data achieved by measuring interpersonal ability, interpersonal stress, and work satisfaction criterions in order to verify homogeneity of the experimental group and the control group by using SPSS 17.0 version, and the pilot survey was used as covariation in order to verify significance in average difference, while ANCOVA analysis was executed by designating post-survey a dependent variable.
Analysis results that have achieved to verify program effects are as follows:
First, experimental group's interpersonal ability was improved and the improvement was sustained.
Second, experimental group's interpersonal stress was decreased and the decrease was sustained.
Third, experimental group's work satisfaction was improved and the improvement was sustained.
By observing the research results, it can be verified that employees communication program enhances interpersonal ability of employees, reduces interpersonal stress, and improves work satisfaction.
The results of this study suggest that communication training program can be executed as prevention measures regarding problems, such as stress from being unable to form proper interpersonal relationships, work dissatisfaction, and work transfer.
When observing that the basic goal of education for employees emphasis on the prevention and guidance aspects rather than finding solutions for problems, it can be said that the use of communication training program has greater significance in that it can provide the opportunity to achieve satisfactory performance at a corporate environment.
