한국의 중동정책 -역사적 조망과 대중동정책의 비판을 중심으로- = South Korea`s policy to the Middle East -Focusing on the historical and critical perspectives to South Korea`s policy to the Middle East-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

South Korea has decided the policy of the Middle East, such a s the supply of energy in economy and the cooperative relation with USA in politics, from former days. In the 1970s, the Middle East was a very important area economically for South Korea, and South Korea`s policy to the Middle East and Arab, though it had some problems, was evaluated affirmatively by claiming to stand for the pro-Arab policy. Especially, the first oil shock in the 1973 and the second oil shock in the 1979 affected South Korean economy as well as world economy considerably. In those days, South Korea had the intimate relation with Arabic countries, and kept the diplomatic relation with them, having the idea of considering the policy to the Middle East as energy security. But since the Gulf War in the 1990s, the assault on Afghanistan in 2002, and the Iraq War in 2003, all of which USA played a leading role, South Korea has not obtained excellent results politically and diplomatically. This paper will study critically not only the economic and political problems between South Korea and Arabic countries but also South Korea`s policy to the Middle East, considering the relation with USA, and analyze South Korea`s policy to the Middle East and its diplomatic policy to Arabic oil-producing countries in preparation for energy crisis in future.
