국가유산을 활용한 디지털 문화유산 개발 연구 -<2023 강릉대도호부관아 국가유산 미디어아트> 사례를 중심으로- = A Study on the Development of Digital Heritage Utilizing National Heritage -Focusing on the <2023 National Heritage Media Art Case of Gangneung Daedohobu Gwana>-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

유네스코의 ‘디지털 문화유산 보존 헌장’과 우리나라의 ‘국가유산법’은 디지털 기술의 문화적 영향력을 인식하고, 이를 문화유산의 보존과 활용에 적용하고자 노력하고 있다. 이러한 세계적 문화사업 흐름 속에 다양한 국가 차원의 디지털 문화유산 사업이 진행됨에도 불구하고, 국가유산을 활용한 디지털 문화유산 개발 과정에 대한 이론적 모형과 실천적 적용 방안은 충분히 논의되지 않은 실정이다.
이에 본고는 ‘디지털 문화유산 개발 모형 5단계’를 제안하고, 각 단계 아래 세부 항목을 두어, 개발 과정의 범주를 구체화하였다. 그리고 해당 모형의 실천 가능성을 검토하기 위해 2023년 강릉대도호부관아에서 진행된 국가유산 미디어아트 축제를 사례로 들어 이를 실증하고자 하였다.
그 결과 ‘디지털 문화유산 개발 모형 5단계’가 디지털 문화유산 개발 전반에 걸쳐 타당성과 체계성을 갖춘 개발 모형이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 ‘디지털 문화유산 개발 모형 5단계’는 향후 유사 프로젝트에서 전략적이고 지속 가능한 문화유산 개발을 위한 유용한 실천 도구로 기능할 수 있으리라 사료된다.

UNESCO’s “Charter on the Preservation of Digital Heritage” and Korea’s “National Heritage Act” both recognize the cultural influence of digital technology and seek to apply it to the preservation and utilization of cultural heritage. Despite the implementation of various national-level digital cultural heritage projects within the broader context of national cultural initiatives, theoretical models and practical approaches for developing digital cultural heritage based on national heritage have not been sufficiently explored.
In response, this study proposes a “Five-Stage Model for Digital Cultural Heritage Development,” specifying detailed components under each stage to clarify and structure the development process. To examine the model’s practical applicability, an empirical case study was conducted on the National Heritage Media Art Festival held in 2023 at the Gangneung Daedohobu Government Gwana.
The findings confirmed that the proposed Five-Stage Model can serve as a valid and systematic framework throughout the entire development process of digital cultural heritage. Therefore, the model presented in this study is expected to function as a practical and strategic tool for the sustainable development of cultural heritage in future similar projects.
