세종시 건설에 따른 수도권 인구 분산 효과 분석: = An Analysis on the Redistributive Effects of Population in the Capital Region due to the Sejong City Construction

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aimed to analyze the redistributive effects of population in the Capital region due to the construction of the Sejong city using the 2010-2016 national migration data. In doing so, we first analyze how the Sejong city construction affected the national migration patterns, and secondly investigate the contribution of the Capital region to the increase of migrant influx into the Sejong city. We employ the pooled regression analysis and panel model as statistical tools for the analyses. The major findings can be summarized as follows. First, along with migration patterns of the Capital region (from central city to the suburbs) due to the population suburbanization, the Sejong city construction is one of significant factors in determining national migration patterns. Second, the Capital region has insignificant impacts on the growth of migrant influx into the Sejong city, while Daejun city, neighboring city of Sejong, made a significant contribution. These findings indicate that the intended goal of the Sejong city construction, relieving the Capital region’s overconcentration through population redistribution, has not been achieved yet.
