체육사 : 올림픽의 본질과 발전 요인에 관한 재조명 = An Overview of the nature and developmental factors in Olympic

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 올림픽의 발전 요인을 고대 올림픽의 생성과정에 관한 근원적 요소를 문화사적 배경과 관련하여 진단하고 어떤 배경 하에서 근대 올림픽이 부활되고 발전되었는가 하는 점을 올림피즘의 본질과 관련된 이상 및 실제에 관한 것들을 사회적, 교육철학적 입장에서 발견해내고자 했다.올림픽의 본질적 이념은 올림픽의 실제적 양상과 어떠한 의미를 지니고 있는지를 경험적 또는 분석적 방법으로 검토한 결과 다음과 같은 몇 가지 특징을 검토할 수 있었다.첫째, 올림픽의 의식은 개막식, 폐회식에 있어서의 성화, 시상식, 참여적 프로그램, 운동선수와 심판 등의 선서 등 행위에서 신성성의 원형을 검출해낼 수 있었다.둘째, 올림픽은 스포츠경기 장면을 통해서 페어플레이 정신, 건강, 명예를 본질적 덕목으로 하여 평화와 선 그리고 보다 원만한 세계를 추구하기 위한 노력 그 자체이며 아마추어리즘을 기조로 하는 평화지향의 실천적 구성체임을 확인시켜주고 있다.셋째, 근대 올림피즘이 지향하는 세계는 미적 질서와 예술적 조화가 고도로 통합됨으로써 형성되는 종합적 인간표현의 장으로서 그 방향성을 발휘하고 있다는 점이다. 이는 스포츠와 미의식창조라는 새로우면서도 발전적인 영역과 밀접한 연관을 지니고 있는 것으로 스포츠, 특히 체육교육의 확충적 과제로서 제기되고 있음을 검토하였다.또한 올림픽의 변화 발전에 영향을 주는 사회적 요인 중 IOC의 역할·기능과 올림피즘의 형성, 민족주의의 대두, 산업화 사회와 매스미디어의 발달, 그리고 상업주의 등이 올림픽의 발전에 크게 작용하였음을 분석할 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Historically, Olympic had influence upon the economical, social, cultural development of the each nation which participated in the Olympic Games. In modern society, it paved the way for each nation's harmony and peace through the practical efforts of olympism.There have been various and numerous researches on the Olympic Movements and the Olympic Games. The focus of the researches are related to (a) investigate the issues and problems of amateurism, (b) pursue the development of moral attitude and health, (c) investigate the nature of sports for the essential culture, (d) improve and promote the each nation's peace through the participation in the Olympic Games.In the past, Olympic Games was developed by the pure olympism , however, nowadays it is thrown on the horns of a dilemma by the nationalism for medal contests, the professionalism for commercial profit and the complications of political power.As a matter of fact, it will be an important matter to understand the nature of Olympic and the social forces that influenced to the development of Olympic Games. Religion, peace, artistry are the main characteristics of Olympism. And the function of IOC, Olympism, nationalism, industrialization, mass-communication, commercialization are the main characteristics that have a great influence on the development of Olympic Games. These understandings may helpful for the right direction of future Olympic Games.
