계보학적 영화 지식의 탄생과 유용한 지식 담론의 한계 ― 『키노』의 영화 지식 생성 과정을 중심으로 ― = The origin of genealogic film knowledge and the limitation of knowledge-discourses

국문 초록 (Abstract)

『키노』는 영화의 시대, 문화의 시대인 1990년대를 지나면서 영화와 관련한 다양한 정보와 기사를 단순한 일회성 지식이 아니라 ‘문화 지식’으로 ‘계보가 있는 사적 지식’으로 만드는 데 일조했다. 『키노』는 이 세계를 영화의 언어로 설명할 수 있으며, 영화의 언어로 다시 새로운 세상을 꿈 꿀 수 있음에 도전하고 이를 실험했다. 그래서 1990년대 『키노』는 매우 특별한 의미를 지닌다.
이러한 『키노』의 야심찬 기획에 많은 『키노』 독자도 동참했다. 그들은 『키노』가 그리고자 한 영화 세상의 일원이 되어 영화와 현실을 오가는 메신저인 동시에 현실 세계에서는 ‘신지식인’으로 자신을 위치시키며 의미화했다. 『키노』가 구축한 영화 지식세계에 『키노』 독자는 영화 시민이자 영화 전사와도 같은 역할을 했다.
『키노』, 『키노』 독자는 그들만의 리그 형성에 그치지 않고 다른 문화장과, 인접 학문분야와의 연대에도 매우 적극적이었다. 『키노』의 지면을 통해 철학이, 문학이, 사회학이 그리고 과학이 만났고 이를 통해 영화를 제대로 이해하기 위해서는 ‘철학, 문학, 사회학 그리고 과학’적 지식을 총동원해야 한다는 선례를 남겼다.
이와 같은 『키노』의 도전과 실험은 영화에 국한한 협소한 지식을 보편적인 지식으로 끌어올리는 데에 일정 부분 기여하기도 했다. 하지만 영화, 그것도 예술성과 시사성을 지닌 영화 지식과 대중성과 오락성과 관련한 정보보다 가치 있고 우위에 있다라는 『키노』 특유의 현학성과 선민의식은 영화 지식 체계를 구축하는 데 시장논리로 판단하게 했다. 영화 내부에서 이미 영화와 관련한 ‘질’ 검증이 대외적으로 ‘영화 지식의 질’을 검증하게 했으며 이로 인해 영화 지식은 그 경쟁력과 생존 가능성을 두고 다른 지식과 경합할 수밖에 없게 되었다.
『키노』가 구축한 영화 체계는 그 지식의 유통과 소비로 지식의 가치를 증명하게 됨으로써 되레 영화 지식의 축소, 소모되는 지식이라는 한계 역시 지니게 되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Kino helped turn various information and articles related to movies into 'culture knowledge' and 'historical knowledge' rather than just one-time knowledge. Kino challenged and experimented with the ability to describe the world as the language of the film and dream of a new world again. So in the 1990s, Kino had a very special meaning.
Many Kino readers also joined the ambitious project. They have made themselves 'new intellectuals' in the real world while being a messenger of films and reality as part of Kino's wish to be part of the movie world. In the movie knowledge world established by Kino, Kino readers played the role as a film citizen and a film warrior.
The readers of Kino and Kino were not only active in forming their own leagues but also in solidarity with other cultures and neighboring academic fields. Philosophy, literature, sociology and science have met through kino's paper, which set a precedent that 'the philosophy, literature, sociology and science' knowledge must be mobilized to fully understand the film.
Kino's challenge and experimentation have also contributed in part to bringing small knowledge, limited to film, to universal knowledge. However, Kino's unique sense of pedagogy led the movie's knowledge system to be judged by market logic. This forced the knowledge of movies to compete with other knowledge on its competitiveness and viability.
Kino's film system proved the value of knowledge through the distribution and consumption of that knowledge, thus limiting the reduction and consumption of film knowledge.
