Discussions on the Fourth Industrial Revolution are being actively carried out around the world and numerous industrial studies are under way. The aviation industry is one of the most advanced and precise industries, including air transport, airports, safety and security, navigation support and maintenance. The "fourth industrial revolution" can be seen as a phenomenon in which the real world and virtual space converge around people. It is called the "digital technology revolution" led by artificial intelligence, big data, robots and bio. In particular, the aviation industry can be cited as the most influential industry in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, and the utilization rate of customers using airplane boarding procedures using mobile phones and others is steadily increasing. Under the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, airlines are providing smart services using artificial intelligence (AI) and customized services that are believed to pass big data. Artificial intelligence and robots developed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution will expect to replace the work of many airport ground workers in physical and intellectual areas, and many workers who have not acquired and adapted to new technologies will also be expected to lose their jobs. Therefore, airline ground workers may be called job insecurity.
Job insecurity is associated with work-related general health outcomes such as emotional exhaustion, psychological pain (anxiety and depression) physical health complaints. It is also related to negative attitudes toward the workplace and organization, such as decreased job satisfaction, impersonation, and decreased emotional organizational immersion. Tension induced by job insecurity may also affect turnover. Job insecurity leads to negative consequences by reducing workers' sense of control over their work, so it is also important to provide some control and thereby increase control to curb negative consequences.
The study seeks to examine the ground workers of Chinese airlines how the job insecurity they perceive affects the degree of turnover. I also want to explain this process with an individual's perceived control. Furthermore, we would like to examine the effect of controlling trust in leaders in the process of job insecurity affecting the sense of control. We would like to reveal the change in control and turnover depending on the level of job insecurity perceived by airport ground workers. We would like to examine the role of perceived control in the process of job insecurity perceived by airport ground workers in the process of turnover and verify the mediated effects. To verify that the negative effects of job insecurity recognized by the members of the organization differ depending on their attitude toward the leader, we would like to verify the adjustment effect of trust in leader.
This study was conducted by setting up a survey of ground workers working at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport. A total of 225 questionnaires were distributed to those surveyed. Among them, 209 questionnaires were collected and a total of 199 questionnaires were eventually used to conduct empirical analysis, excluding those that answered insincerely with the same score from the analysis.
A total of five hypotheses were set and empirical analysis was conducted. All the hypotheses set during this study were supported, and in summary, they are as follows.
First, job insecurity had a positive effect on turnover intention.
Second, job insecurity had an negative effect of perceived control
Third, there was a negative effect between the perceived control and the intention turnover.
Fourth, perceived control had a mediating effect between job insecurity and turnover intention.
Finally, trust in leader had a moderating effect (-) between job insecurity and perceived control.
Based on the results of this study, we intend to provide implications for efficient human resource management to airport management.
