GCS클럽과 중국연변지역 잘살기운동 = GCS Club and Community Development in Yun Byun District, China

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Yun Byun District in China is the place whither was allowed to emigrate from Korea. Now many Korean people are living in this District. They are people who emigrated long before to flee from poverty and war in Korea. They have progressed in life ghen before but many people who live in rural community are poor.
Rural community need the kind of community development. The United Nations defined as: the community development is the process by which the efforts of the people themselves are united with those of governmental authorities to improve the economic, social and cultural conditions of communities, to integrate these communities into the life of the nation, and to enable them to contribute fully to national progress.
The community development emphasis on self-reliance and on social animation that stresses the raising of the consciousness of the people, the building up of their inner resources, and the encouragement of collective participation as prerequisites to lifting rural populations out of conditions of absolute poverty.
If residents take part in spontaneously and the outside, the government or social clubs instruct and contribute them. The community will develop. I carried out a survey this year, 2000 at 3 rural villages in Yunbyun district China. The villages are following:
Joyang village, at Yoong Jyong City.
Gyodong village, at yoong Jyong City.
Kwang Myung village, at wha Roong City.
GCS Seoul Central Club members have supported 50 cows for Kwang Myung village's residents during he last three years. But the residents now have no fervor, ability, capital for community development. They are in need giving assistance and technical advice from the outside, such as government and NGOs. GCS club will continue supporting for them. Another NGOs should take part in and the national government or local government also should take the initiative in community development.
