The Purpose of this thesis is to study the problem of responsibility
as a central concept of modern ethic through Bonhoeffer's Reality of
Christ. The point of departure for Christian ethic is not the reality of
one's self, or the reality of the world; nor is it the reality of standards
and values. It is the reality of God as He reveals Himself in Jesus Christ.
And the problem of Christian ethic is the realization among God's
creatures of the revelational reality of God in Christ. Consequently the
question of good becomes the question of participation in the divine reality
which is revealed Christ.
Bonhoeffer has presented responsibility ethic in his ethic, the
structure of life. According to Bonhoeffer, the structure of responsible life
is prescribed dualistically in the fact that it is bound(Bindung) to man and to God and a man's own life is free(Freiheit). Without this bond and
without this freedom there is no responsibility. The obligation assumes the
form of deputyship and of correspondence with reality; freedom displays
itself in the self-examination of life and of action and in the venture of a
concrete decision.
The first chapter is the introduction that deals with the purpose, the
methodology and the historical survey of the present concern.
In the second chapter attempts to explain the concept of reality and
christian ethics and thinking in terms of two spheres and The Scriptures
name the four mandates: labor, marriage, government and Church.
The third chapter surveys structure and content of Reality of Christ.
It categorize into "Ethics as formation", "The Last Thing and Things
Before the Last", "The Preparing of the Way".
The fourth chapter attempts to explain Responsibility ethics. It
categorize responding to the word of God which is addressed to us in
Jesus Christ and the Structure of Responsible Life and the Place of
Responsibility and Situation and limit.
In conclusion was summarized this thesis and suggested the
alternative suggestion about social problem in modern society.
