김복진 조각의 창조적 계승 과제와 동시대 기술의 적용 = The creative succession of Kim Bokjin's sculptures and the application of contemporary technology

This study explores the sculptural philosophy of Kim Bok-jin and how contemporary sculptors have inherited and reinterpreted his legacy. Kim sought to integrate innovative Western sculptural techniques with the traditional aesthetics of Joseon, creating a hybrid form that continues to influence Korean art. As the field of sculpture enters a new era shaped by digital technologies such as 3D modeling, scanning, and printing, this study reexamines Kim’s ideas through both formal and technical lenses. It particularly analyzes the 2022 Kim Bok-jin Sculpture Project, led by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, in which artists engaged with Kim’s works using contemporary digital tools. Through this analysis, the study assesses how Kim’s approach to creatively extending tradition remains relevant, offering meaningful strategies for future artistic practices in a technologically evolving landscape.
