This study aims to analyze curriculum of beauty-related departments and the textbook about a course of hair, to survey demands and interests of leaners and finally to provide how to construct contents and plot of hair beauty subject's material. It is all for develop and apply to instructional material about hair beauty subject.
It is studying the curriculum at the 26 beauty-related departments in the 4-year universities, 25 textbooks about hair subject, the syllabus of hair beauty subject, and 3 textbooks from high school to identify the connection with applied hair study. In addition, it researches for learner's demands and interests with surveying 267 students who are at the beauty-related departments. The literature reviews were conducted from Jan. 2012 to Sep. 2012 and the survey was answered during Oct. 2012. For analyzing the research data, SPSS. v. 17.0 program was used.
As a result of study, it shows that every universities has their own curriculum without any regulations and opens a course of study irregularly. It means to need formulation a system of curriculum. Contents, plots, and category of materials was figured through material analysis. Also, it results that it is necessary to standardize the technical term about cosmetology. In addition, it revealed that the textbook from high school and applied hair study have connection with same system of the contents. Lastly the learners showed more positive interest in the new concepted model which is learner-oriented after survey. It suggests the standard and direction of instructional material about hair beauty.
The new concepted model to be developed with this ground from this study contributes to inspire the curriculum system to make effective and practical and to have the significance in the absence of instructional material about hair beauty which takes important part at the beauty related curriculum.
