The purpose of this study was to utilize microwave as a countermeasure for energy economy in dyeing industry, it was consumed much energy.
In dyeing palyester fabric by means of microwave, it was measured the dye concentration (K/S) as the irradiating time of microwave and by using an additive and investigated the colorfastness of dyed fabric.
The results were as follow:
1. As for the dye concentration (K/S) as the irradiating time of microwave changes, dip dyeing and screen printing showed the descending order of twenty, fifteen, ten, and five minutes. The dye concentration (K/S) generally increased higher with the irradiating time of microwave, however, since the increasing rate became dull as higher, fifteen minutes of irradiating time was thought appropriate.
2. Only the irradiation of microwave with padding can make dyeing possible without anything used, and in screen printing higher dye concentration (K/S) can be obtained than in pressure steaming of former method.
3. In the dye concentration (K/S) by using an additive, it increased higher as the concentration of dispersing agent increases, however, it showed the highest degree when the concentration of dispersing agent was 2-3 g/l.
4. In dyeing by means of microwave, the colonfastness to rubbing and washing were fourth to fifth grade, the colorfastness to light were sixth to seventh grade in dip dyeing and seventh to eighth grade in screen printing, accordingly, when we dyed by means of microwave, we can be obtained excellent dyeing fabric.
5. Dyeing by means of microwave, through shortening the time for dyeing can not only contribute to economizing in energy but increase the goods value by attaining proficiency in processing technic.
