      The academic discussion related to the rebirth of Qignchu Ci was focused on Yangzhou Group of Ci poets centered on Wang, Shizhen. Zou, Zhimo, along with Wang, Shizhen, made a substantial contribution to the revitalization of Ci in terms of exploration of Ci, selection of Ci, and Ci creation.
      Under the trend of demeaning Ci in the Ming Dynasty, Zou, Zhimo paid attention to the homogeneity of poetry called 'Yan Qing', and raised the origin of Ci to Shijing and Chuci. He also asserted that he could not treat Ci as secondary to Shi, and that he could not divide the superiority and inferiority of poetry in terms of the precedence and succession of the times. He embodied his belief that he did not view Ci as lower level by editing Yishengchuji. These efforts led to changes in the existing notion of the status of the Ci and acted as a driving force for the revival of Ci poetry.
      In discriminating Ci, Zou, Zhimo focused his discussion on distinguishing between Qu and Ci rather than Shi and Ci. His perspective on Shi and Ci was not different from that in writers from late Ming Dynasty to early Qing Dynasty. He judged that what was urgently needed in the mixed situation of Qu and Ci was to differentiate Ci from Qu. He tried to restore the original form of Ci by correcting it's literary form. Thus, he carefully examined the problems of Cidiao, Ciyun, and Cipu.
      The attitude of Zou, Zhimo towards Ci poetry was inclusive. While acknowledging the achievements of the Beisong Ci in Xiaoling, he highly appreciated the various artistic techniques and the styles shown by the Nansong Ci. He also tried the possibility of reproducing the artistry of the Nansong Ci in the creative aspect. By comparing Qingchu Ci to Nansong Ci, he affirmed the artistic achievement of Qingchu Ci and promoted the development of Ci poetry. As a result, Ci poets of Qingchu attempted various artistic explorations, and after that, the Ci poet group that advocated a clear line of Ci poetry, such as Yangxiancipai and Zhexicipai, were able to appear.
