눈치가 정신건강에 미치는 영향 -자기존중감의 매개효과- = Effects of Nunchi on Mental Health in the Mediation of Self-Esteem

국문 초록 (Abstract)

기존 연구에 따르면 눈치는 대인관계와 안녕감을 증진시키는데 도움이 된다고 한다. 긍정심리학의 등장으로 안녕감이 주목을 받기는 했으나 정신건강 이요인 모형에 따르면 온전한 정신건강은 삶의 질이 증진되는 것도 중요하지만(성장 모형) 심리문제가 없는 상태(질병 모형)도 중요하다고 한다. 이러한 견해에 따라 이 연구에서는 눈치가 성장모형과 질병 모형을 모두 설명할 수 있는지 검토하고자 하였다. 성장모형을 검증하고자 눈치가 자기존중감을 매개로 안녕감에 영향을 미친다는 모형을 설정하였고 질병모형을 검증하고자 눈치가 자기존중감을 매개로 우울과 불안에 영향을 미친다는 모형을 설정하였다. 이를 위하여 대학생 417명(남학생 283명 여학생 132명)을 대상으로 설문을 하고 경로분석을 이용하여 검증하였다. 그 결과 연구모형은 자료에 부합하는 것으로 나타나 눈치는 자기존중감을 매개로 안녕감을 향상시키는 반면, 우울이나 불안은 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과는 한국 사회에서 눈치가 정신건강에 유용한 개념임을 시사하는 것이다. 이 연구결과에 대해 논의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Previous studies have suggested that nunchi is helpful to enhance interpersonal relationship or subjective wellbeing(SWB). SWB has been paid much attention after the emergence of positive psychology. However, the disease model have argued that the illness-absent state was as important as the quality of life. In this article, it was investigated whether nunchi could enhance the quality of life and lessen or prevent the psychological problems. Based on previous studies, two hypotheses were constructed and tested. The first hypothesis was that nunchi would affect SWB in the mediation of self esteem, and the second was that nunchi have effects on depression and anxiety in the mediation of self-esteem. Data was collected from 417 colleges(male 283, female 132) and analyzed with the structural equation model. Results revealed that model fitted with data, which meant that nunchi improved SWB, but decreased depression or anxiety in the mediation of self-esteem. The results of this study confirmed that nunchi was a very useful construct for enhancing psychological health. Results were discussed.
