캐나다 퀘벡 주 지리교육과정과 지리과의 핵심역량 = The 21st Century Key Competencies and Geography Curriculum(1) : Curriculum of the Canadian Province of Quebec and the Core Competencies of Geography Subject

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 캐나다 퀘벡 주 교육과정과 지리과 핵심역량의 특징을 검토한 것이다. 먼저 캐나다 퀘벡 주 교육과정은 역량기반 교육과정으로, 역량은 가장 일반적인 수준의 포괄적 학습 영역에서, 중간 수준의 범교과적역량, 그리고 가장 구체적인 수준의 교과특정 역량으로 이루어져 있다. 둘째, 지리과의 핵심역량은 3가지로 영역의 조직에 대한 이해, 영역의 쟁점에 대한 해석, 글로벌 시민성 함양으로, 영역에 토대하여 계열적 구조를 이루고 있다. 셋째, 이러한 역량의 발달을 위해 지리교육과정의 내용은 5개 영역의 유형(도시 영역, 지역적 영역, 농업적 영역, 원주민 영역, 보호받는 영역)에 근거하고 있으며, 각 영역별 주안점을 지정하여 범위를 한정하고 있다. 넷째, 이러한 5개 유형별 영역의 조직에 대한 학습과 더불어, 영역별 쟁점(환경적 쟁점, 삶의 질 쟁점, 개발 쟁점, 정체성 쟁점)을 연계하여 학습하고, 최종적으로 글로벌 연계를 고려하여 학습하도록 하고 있다. 마지막으로, 이와 같은 3가지의 교과특정 역량과 내용과의 연계는, 5개 영역의 유형별 지정된 주안점별로 공통개념, 중심개념 및 특정개념, 문화적 참조가 함께 유기적으로 결합된 방식을 보여준다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper is to examine the curriculum of the Canadian Province Quebec and the competencies of Geography subject. First, It is competency-based curriculum that is made up from the broad areas of learning to cross-curricular competencies and subject areas. Second, the Geography subject specificcompetencies consist of understanding the organization of a territory, interpreting a territorial issue and constructing his/her consciousness of global citizenship, which have sequential structure based on territory. Third, the development of the competencies in the Geography program is based on the study of types of territories, urban territory, regional territory, agricultural territory, Native territory and protected territory that can be studies by means of various designated focuses. Fourth, the program presents four main categories of territorial issues: environmental issues, quality-of-life issues, development issues and identity issues. It also raises relating to global phenomena present in many territories around the world. Finally, connections between the subject-specific competencies and the program content present concepts common to all designated focuses relating to the type of territory, central concept and specific concepts and cultural references.
