This study focuses on the adaptability to stresses of handicapped children`s family. The purpose of this study is to investigate the strategies to make them cope with stresses positively and to maintain family health. Second purpose of this study is to investigate the factors related to the concept of family resilience which affect the positive coping with stresses. Finally, this study presented the usefulness of the concept of family resilience and intervention model by utilizing the family resilience of handicapped children`s family. To fulfill these purposes, depth interview with two families and analysis of a family through internet were performed. The subject of analysis was parents with handicapped children who is preschool age. Through the interview and analysis, the factors of family resilience in the category of belief system of Walsh, there were, spirituality, positive outlook, accepting what can`t be changed, learning and growth from adversity, confidence in family health, Optimistic illusion, family belief. In the process of organization process, there were commitment to family, mutual support, intimacy, mobilizing extended kin and social support, building financial security. In the communication process, there were emotional expression, conflict resolution, preparing for future challenges, pleasurable interaction. And the individual resilience of each family members influences the overcoming of the crisis of the family. Commonly, through the opening of disability, emotional support from the parents group or community contributes to the nurture of the family resilience. It is important to find out the strength and potential powers as much as to find the stresses and risk factors of handicapped family. This study found the factors of family resilience at handicapped children`s home and it will be able to give the guiding principle of intervention which helps family members find their own strength and potential power.
