In this paper, a chipless RFID system using stepped-impedance resonators is proposed. The proposed tag is designed with 5-bit
representation by five stepped-impedance resonators. An UWB monopole antenna is designed with a rectangular patch to
mount on the tag substrate. By detaching resonant stubs, the ID code can be re-generated. The chipless tag and reader
systems have been evaluated from experimental measurements. The experimental setup is installed with a vector network
analyzer in an anechoic chamber. From the measured results, the resonant bits of the chipless RFID system shows the expected
values with good resolution.
