미국 한인 교회의 역사와 찬양대의 현황

국문 초록 (Abstract)

미국 한인 교회에서 영어 예배와 함께 추수감사절, 부활절, 송구 영신예배나 크리스마스 등의 특별한 절기 때 함께 연합 예배를 드리는 경우가 있다. 이때 함께 공유하고 있는 찬송가로 예배를 인도하고, 찬양대를 함께 하기도 한다. 예배 시 사용되는 하나의 찬양은 서로 은혜 받고 감정적 치유를 경험하며 한인 2세와 1세가 함께 할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 수 있다. 하지만, 예배 설교에서 오는 언어와 문화적 차이는 여전히 해결해야 할 문제이다. 미국 한인 교회는 여러 가지 특유의 가능성을 가지고 있다. 미국사회 속에 살면서 한국보다 더욱 한국적인 교회이기도 하고, 세계화의 물결이 교회 내외적으로 맞부딪치고 있는 현실 속에 생활하고 있다. 미국의 교회 음악 또한 교세의 약화와 함께 어려움을 겪고 있으나, 복음주의 교회를 중심의 음악 전임 사역자를 두어 여전히 발전적인 모습을 보이고 있다. 수많은 교회 음악들이 작곡되고, 크고 작은 교회 음악회들이 교회들과 교회 음악인들을 중심으로 이루어지며 발전하고 있다. 물론 미국한인 교회들도 찬양의 전문성을 가지고 음악 전임 사역자를 고용하는 교회들이 늘어나고 있다. 미국 한인 교회들이 교회의 분립과 문화의 고립에서 벗어나 찬양의 전문성을 회복하여 미국 안에서 미국 교회와 대등한 위치에서 설 수 있고 나아가 한국과 전 세계의 찬양의 모델이 되는 교회와 교회 음악인들이 많이 나올 수 있기를 바란다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Korean churches in America gather and attend Worship services together at some holidays like Thanksgiving day, Easter days, a New Year’s Eve and Christmas holidays. At these times, first and second generations also gather together and praise with common English hymns for the second generation who can speak better than Korean. With these worship services, they can experience merciful God and emotional healing together. But there are still left many problems like linguistic and cultural gaps among them. Nevertheless, there are many special possibilities among Korean churches in America. Because they keep Korean culture in American society and at the same time meet many other World-wide cultures.
Church Music of the Korean church in America encounters many difficulties by decrease of the number of Christians. But by employing full-time praise specialists, some evangelical churches have got through these difficulties and resulted even more advanced state. The specialists have composed many kinds of church music and held large and small concerts. All these things make the churches and the church music develop. These days many other Korean churches in America began to hire full-time praise specialists. I think that these things can solve many problems of Korean churches in America like separation and isolation among themselves. By gaining more hymnal professionalism, I think that they can upgrade themselves unto American churches and raise many good church musicians.
