The upper G-Iseries was employed in the evaluation of 143 patients whom had suffered from hepatic cirrhosis accompanying ascites. Hepatic cirrhosis occurs more frequently in the male, the ratio being 2.2:1 and is seen all age group, but is common in the 3rd, 4th and 5th decades, although 1 case has been presented in patient under 20 years of age. In 33 patients (23.1%) with peptic ulcer, gastric ulcer disease was 12, duodenal ulcer was 19 and gastro-duodenal ulcer was 2. Esophageal varices was seen in 34 patents (23.8%) The sources of hemorrhage in 12 patients who had chief complaints of hematemesis or melena were 9 cases in ruptured esophageal varices and 3 cases in bleeding peptic ulcer.
