The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of the growth factors coated on titanium, dentin implanted in the rabbit bone marrow. Human transforming growth factor beta(TGF-beta) human platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF), recombinant human insulin like growth factor I(IGF-I), and recombinant human epidermal growth factor were used. 12 rabbits, weighting about 2.5kg, were used as experimental animals, divided into control group(left side femurs) and experimental group(right side femurs). After making surgical defects with a bur on the bone marrow of the femur, the surgical defects were filled with titinium, dentin In the experimental group the prepared growth factors were coated, but in the control group were not done. The rabbits were sacrificed at the 1st day, 3rd day and 7th day after operation. And the specimen were routinely prepared for scanning electro micrsopic examination. The results were as follows :
1. 1st day after implantation, the number of attached bone marrow cells were much more in the experimental group compare to the control group, and the IGF-1 group, PGF group was marked, and the EGF group, TGF beta group were next.
2. 3rd day after implantation, the counting number of the attached bone marrow cells were same almostly in the all growth factor group.
3. The morphology of the attached bone marrow cells showed that the wide1st, flat and low cells in the IGF-I and PDGF, middle degree in the EGF, and the TGF beta group, the experimental group were not distinct.
