철학적 탐구공동체 활동이 유아의 비판적 사고력 향상에 미치는 효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 철학적 탐구공동체 활동이 유아의 비판적 사고력 향상에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있으며, 이러한 목표를 달성하기 위한 구체적인 연구문제로는 철학적 탐구공동체 활동이 유아의 비판적 사고력 총점과 비판적 사고력 하위요인 및 세부하위요인에 미치는 영향과 유아의 반응으로 구성하였다.
이 연구문제를 해결하기 위하여 진주시에 위치한 어린이집에 재원 중인 유아 46명을 대상으로 실험집단과 통제집단을 구성하였다. 실험집단은 철학적 탐구공동체 활동을 12주간 36회 실시한 후 유아 비판적 사고력 검사에 의거하여 비판적 사고력을 측정하였으며 유아의 반응을 분석하기 위하여 12회 토론활동을 녹화한 후 프로토콜을 작성하였다. 자료 분석은 사전, 사후검사에 대한 두 집단의 차이를 공변량분석(ANCOVA)하였다. 그리고 철학적 탐구공동체 활동에서 나타난 질적 변화를 알아보기 위하여 사전과 사후 검사의 내용을 정리하여 비교 분석하고, 프로토콜에서 비판적 사고력 세부 하위 요인들의 변화빈도를 χ2(chi-square) 분석을 하였다.
본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 철학적 탐구공동체 활동은 유아의 비판적 사고력을 향상시켰으며, 비판적 사고력의 하위 요인인 추론, 해석, 평가 모두 향상되는 효과가 있었다. 비판적 사고력의 세부하위요인에 미치는 영향은 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 유아의 비판적 사고력 검사에서 나타난 유아의 반응은 비판적인 사고의 세부하위요인 모두 추상적이고 단순한 표현에서 이유와 근거를 제시한 구체적인 표현으로 변화되었으며, 철학적 탐구공동체 활동에서 나타난 유아의 반응은 각 주제별로 유의미한 차이가 있었다.
이러한 연구결과는 철학적 탐구공동체 활동이 유아의 비판적 사고력을 향상시킬 수 있는 효과적인 활동이며, 유아들도 교육을 통하여 비판적 사고력을 향상시킬 수 있음을 밝혀주는 것이다. 따라서 철학적 탐구공동체 활동은 유아의 비판적 사고력을 향상시키는 활동으로 활용 가능함을 시사한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examined the effects of the activities of the community of philosophical inquiry on improvement of critical thinking of preschool children. we have three research questions as following:
First, did the activities of the community of philosophical inquiry have effect upon critical thinking of preschool children? Second, did the effects of the activities of the community of philosophical inquiry have difference of total score of sub-factors of critical thinking? Third, did the effects of the activities of the community of philosophical inquiry have difference of detailed sub-factors of critical thinking? Fourth, did the response of preschool children at the test of critical thinking have qualitative difference? Fifth, did the response of preschool children at the activities of the community of philosophical inquiry have difference of detailed sub-factors of critical thinking on the following session?
The subjects were 46 preschool children of experimental group and control group at a nursey school in Jinju. The author measured critical thinking based on critical thinking inspection of preschool children after 36 times activities of the community of philosophical inquiry for 12 weeks, and made out protocols after recording 12 times discussion activities to investigate the response of preschool children.
In this study there were used to examine difference of both groups at pre-inspection and post-inspection, and inspected contents of both inspections to examine qualitative changes at the activities of the community of philosophical inquiry, and conducted χ2 test to examine sub-factors of critical thinking at protocols.
The findings were as follows: The activities of the community of philosophical inquiry improved critical thinking of preschool children, and were effective at improving sub-factors of critical thinking, for instance, reasoning, interpretation and evaluation, etc. The effect upon sub-factors of critical thinking had significant difference. The change of contents depending upon the response of preschool children made change from abstract and simple expressions to concrete expressions having reasons and grounds at all of detailed sub-factors of critical thinking: The response of preschool children of the activities of the community of philosophical inquiry had significant difference at each subject.
The findings showed that the activities of the community of philosophical thinking were effective to improve critical thinking of preschool children and the preschool children could improve critical thinking through there education at program.
