The questionnaire research was conducted on pregame psychological factors(ego-orientation, task orientation, competitive state anxiety, intrinsic motivation, attentional focus) for a total of 293 student tennis players composed of 153 male and 140 female ones participating in the high school tennis contest in 2002. For this purpose, this study attempted to conduct t-test according to gender and performance levels. Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusion was drawn: 1. An attempt was made to investigate the difference in ego-orientation and task orientation according to gender and performance levels. As a result, it was found that there was no statistically significant difference in them. But male student tennis players sowed the high level of ego-orientation, whereas female student tennis players showed the high level of task orientation. 2. An attempt was made to analyzed the difference in competitive state anxiety according to gender and performance levels. As a result, it was found that female student tennis players had the higher level of cognitive state anxiety and state confidence than male counterparts in terms of gender & performance levels(p<.05). but there was no statistically significant difference in somatic state anxiety 3. An attempt was made to analyze the difference in intrinsic motivation according to gender and performance levels. As a result, it was found that male student tennis players had the higher level of interest, a sense of ability and effort than female counterparts according to gender and performance levels. Female student tennis players had the sense of tension than male student tennis players. And it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in a sense of tension according to gender and performance levels.(p<.05).
