This study aims to investigate the impact of infectious diseases such as coronavirus on the domestic performing arts market. I collect data from Korea Performing arts box office Information System to examine the domestic performing arts market before and after the coronavirus outbreak. Regarding the supply of performing arts, the number of opening episodes, the number of performances, and the number of stages were used for analysis. From the demand side of the performing arts, data on the number of reservations and sales were used for analysis. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the domestic performing arts market rapidly contracted in terms of supply and demand from 2020, when the coronavirus began to spread in earnest in Korea and then returned to recovery from 2021. The response to the COVID-19 epidemic appeared differently depending on the performing arts genre. The theater, musical, and classical genres recovered from the crisis by increasing average sales per reservation. The number of reservations per performance for musical genres increased, but for classical, dance, and complex genres, the number of reservations per performance decreased. Based on the results of this study made practical suggestions on how the domestic performing arts market can systematically respond when a similar infectious disease occurs in the future.
