1930년대 후기 김남천 비평의 주제와 사실주의에 대한 이해 = An Understanding of the Subject and Realism of Kim Nam Cheon’s Criticism in the late 1930's

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문의 김남천의 문학비평론이 확대·심화되어 가는 과정을 1930년대 문학비평의 전체적인 틀 속에서 조명해 보았다. 반파시즘 통일전선을 효과적으로 수행하기 위해 민족사적 전망과 문학이 문학일 수 있는 내재적 법칙성을 유기적으로 통일하려는 그의 노력이 얼마나 성취되었느냐 하는 문제를 중점적으로 살펴보았다. 김남천은 그가 계급전사로서 획득한 사회주의적 세계관을 문학적 실천을 통해 구현하려는 볼셰비키적 문학관으로부터 출발하여 문학의 예술성과 인간의 사회적 삶과의 관계를 해명하려고 하였다.
그는 마르크스/엥겔스의 고전적 문학 이론을 전범으로 삼고 G.루카치의 소설론을 선택적으로 수용하여 우리 문학적 현실에 적용함으로써 장편소설의 리얼리즘을 실현하려고 하였다. 그는 ‘대상의 전체성’을 드러내는데 소설의 본질이 있다고 믿었고, 이를 위해서는 전형성의 확보가 무엇보다 중요하도고 보았다. 따라서 그의 비평의 구도는 ‘전형성의 확보’라고 할 수 있다.
그는 주로 당대 우리 작가의 문학작품을 구체적 실증적으로 분석함으로써 그의 이론을 전개시켰으며 민족의 운명과 지평에 대한 주체적 입장을 고수하면서 리얼리즘의 심화를 위해 노력하였다. 하지만 그의 비평은 인식론주의적 편향성에서 오는 맹목적 신념으로 문학을 한정된 유형의 세계만을 반영하는 정태적인 것으로 고착화시킬 위험을 내포하고 있다. 그럼에도 우리 비평사에서 그가 갖는 의의는 참된 문학이란 ‘생생한 긴장 상태가 전달 가능한 형태로 성취된 것’이라는 점을 무의식적으로나마 깨달아 문학이 문학일 수 있는 존재 이유와 문학의 본질을 깊이 있게 다루었다는 점에서 찾을 수 있다. 따라서 그의 문학이론은 일정한 한계를 가지고 있으면 서도 130년대 비평문학을 확대하고 심화하여 근대성을 화보하는데 크게 기여하였고, 이에 따라 오늘날까지 한국문학과 비평의 뚜렷한 전통으로 계승될 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This these examines the process of the enlargement and depend of Kim Nam Cheon’s literary criticisms in the whole frame of the 1930’s. He effort to unify organically the internal law why literature should be literature and the national historical viewpoint, to perform effectively the unified front for antifascism. Hereupon, the degree how their efforts are achieved is preponderantly examined. Kim Nam Cheon started from the Bolshevik literary viewpoint to realize the socialistic world view obtaining as a class soldier through literary practice. And he effort to explain the relation between the literature as art and human’s social life.
As he understood almost completely Engles and Marx’s classical theory and G. Lukacs novel theory, He intended to actualize the realism of a novel. He believed that the essence of a novel consisted in exposing 'the whole body of the object' and that to guarantee the typical character is the most important thing for So, his critical construction is to said to guarantee the typical character.
He developed his theory as analyzing in detail and positively our writers' literary works in the 1930's. He kept subjective attitude about the national fortune and the ground level and effort to deepen the realism.
However he is in danger which cam fix a literature as a static thing reflecting only the world of definite type with blind belief by his presentational prejudice.
None the less his criticisms in our history of criticism have a important meaning in that they treated deeply the reason of being why literature should be literature and the literary essence, through recognizing unconsciously that the real literature is a thing accomplished as a transmittable form from the vividly strained aspect'. Thus their literary theory contributed to obtain the modern characters as enlarging and deepening the critical literature in the 1930’s, although his literary theory has some limitation. Therefore he is supported as the plain tradition of the korean literature and criticism up to now.
