색채형용사와 연상색상 대응관계 연구 -한국표준색을 중심으로- = A Study on the Correspondence between Color Adjectives and Associative Color -Focused on Korean Standard Color

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리는 일상에서 하루에도 수만 가지 색을 경험한다. 색은 주관적 개입이 큰 영역이기 때문에 색채 산업현장에서 원활한 의사소통을 위해 표준화된 체계가 요구되었으며, 이러한 배경으로 한국산업표준(KS)에서는 색에 대한 표준화를 구축하고자 한국표준색을 제정하였다. 한편, 한국어는 특성상 여러 형태로 파생이 가능하여 색을 나타내는 색채형용사가 다양하게 발달하였고, 그 단어의 문법적 형태와 어감에 따라 색이 연상되는 점에 주목하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 기본 색채어의 발달 과정과 색채형용사의 구조를 살펴보고, ‘한국표준색이름 통합본’의 ‘계통색이름’을 참고하여 각 색채형용사를 통해 연상되는 색상의 특징을 밝히고자 한다. 연구 범위는 한국어 기본 색채형용사 중 유채색인 ‘붉다, 누르다, 푸르다’의 단일어로 한정하였다. 분석 결과, 각 기본 색채어에 해당되는 평균 색채 값을 도출하였으며, 단어가 지닌 문법적 특성에 따라 ‘된소리 형태’와 ‘모음결합 형태’에 의한 색채 연상을 명확하게 볼 수 있었다. 된소리 형태는 ‘붉다’ 계열만 해당되나 예사소리보다 된소리에서 더욱 농도 깊고 진한 색상을 연상케 함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 ‘양성모음’ 혹은 ‘음성모음’의 결합 형태에 따라 색상의 명도 및 채도의 변화가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 색은 개개인의 감각과 주관적 영향이 큰 특징으로 인해 세분된 분류와 분석의 한계점이 다소 있지만 색채형용사가 지닌 뉘앙스를 한국표준색이름을 통해 시각적으로 제안하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의를 둔다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

We experience tens of thousands of colors in our daily life. Since color is very subjective, the Korean Industrial Standards(KS) enacted the Korean Standard Color. Due to the Korean language has developed a variety of color adjectives that represent colors, we paid attention to the fact that the color is associated with the grammatical form and tone of the word. Therefore, this study examines the structure of color adjectives, and tries to reveal the characteristics of colors associated with each color adjective by referring to ‘Systematic Color Names’ in ‘Korean Standard Color Book’. The scope of the study was limited to a single word of ‘Red, Yellow, Blue’, which are chromatic colors among the basic color adjectives in Korean. According to the grammatical characteristics of words, color associations were clearly seen by the ‘Tense Sound’ and ‘Basic Sound’. The form of ‘Tense Sound’ is only for the ‘red’ series, but it was found that the ‘Tense Sound’ is more dense and reminiscent of a darker color than the ‘Basic Sound’. It was also found that there was a change in the brightness and saturation of the color depending on the combination of ‘Bright Vowel’ or ‘Dark Vowel’. Color has some limitations in classification and analysis due to the characteristics of individual sense and subjective influence, but the significance of this study is that the nuances of color adjectives are visually suggested through Korean standard color names.
