The purpose of this study is to investigate 5 items of role expectations by mothers who have 0~1 year old children about their infant child care teachers in terms of child care agent, relationships with parents, daily-life guidance, care activity guidance and the quality of teachers and also examine differences in the aspect of parents' occupation and age, and which ultimately brings visible changes in teachers' activities and its consequent programs which mothers anticipate, providing high quality educational service through complementary cooperation between mothers and teachers. For this, random sampling is applied to infants in their age of 0~1 in child care centers in Seoul and mothers of the selected infants are given a questionnaire. 223 papers, 79.7% of the total 280 papers are used for a final study. For analysis, frequency and % are calculated by using SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Science) WIN 15.0 program, and the verification of t-test, One-way ANOVA and χ2(Chi-square) are carried out and the level of significance for difference is set at a=.05.
The result shows that mothers generally highly think of the role of teacher as a child care agent and tend to ask teachers to more focus on sociality and basic etiquette of their infants. In addition, mothers want to make relationships with teachers through communication and favor teachers who love and fully understand infants. There are differences in age and occupation of mothers. Mothers having jobs usually do not have much time to spend in child care center and it is revealed that younger mothers tend to actively visit or see to get counseling from teachers about their infants.
