「꿈을 짜는 여인」에서의 페넬로페 연구 = A Study of Penelope in La tejedora de sueños, The Korean Journal of Hispanic Studies

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Greek mythology has always been one of the most important source of themes in literature. Antonio Buero Vallejo deals with those mythological characters in his historical drama in order to bring along individual issues with the contemporary ones, establishing a new perspective towards the original mythological texts. La tejedora de sueños, the recreated mythology of Penelope by the playwright, could be classified as a historical drama in literary criticism. The present study would aim to analyze how Penelope is treated by scrutinizing the distinctive traits of Buero’s characters from Homer’s ones. Then, the study would further move onto the question “what is the purpose of this recreation in which the classical mythology remains somewhat intact; while in the meantime it is associated with principal concerns of human beings who live in the society restricted to censorship and long-venerated traditions of Spain.”

국문 초록 (Abstract)

그리스 고전 신화는 작가들에게 끊임없이 소재를 제공하여 문학작품을 탄생시키는 중요한 효소로서의 역할을 해왔다. 스페인 20세기 극작가 안토니오 부에로 바예호 역시 자신의 역사극 「꿈을 짜는 여인」에서 페넬로페 신화를 차용하고 재창조하여 시대와 민족 및 인간 실존적 문제를 풀어내고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 고전 신화가 안고 있는 시대적, 사상적 한계에 관한 문제들에 작가는 어떠한 해결책을 제시하는지 보고자 하는 데 있다.
