(Background and Purpose) The development of science and technology has caused human life to change mechanically, and the past Western idea that the scientific and mathematical way of thinking exists in human nature has shifted. In addition, human beings thought that they could dominate and possess nature, and because of this way of thinking, nature was destroyed rapidly and disproportionately, and humans became a form of dehumanization through materialism. The voices of awakening began to come back with the half-life of these thoughts, and this was the process of trying to pursue the essence of the human mind. Biomorphism, embodied in the emergence of art based on biological morphism and biology, rejected Descartes' mechanistic thinking and supported the metaphysical basis of nature and spirit. Artists of the Biomorphism movement wanted to get away from the typical and scientific civilized and uniformized form and introduce an organic sense of life into their works. These social changes are present in many places. (Method) The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of biomorphic expressive characteristics on the creation of differentiated spaces based on the elements of biomorphism as consumption culture and a trend that continuously develops and changes. In this paper, we analyze the interactive effects of space and human beings through examples of biomorphism in indoor drinking spaces from 2010 to 2015. The results of this study are summarized as follows. (Results) The results of analysis through the case study showed that the characteristics of expression of biomorphism are produced in various ways. Dynamic and continuous forms are most frequently used in analyzing the strength of the expression, and “dynamic formality” in the ceiling, walls, floors, furniture, and lighting had the highest intensity. “The symbolism of color” had a high intensity of expression in the ceiling and walls, and the intensity was also high for “continuous continuity.” Expression elements of “life abstraction” showed the same intensity in all parts except for the wall, and the elements of “super realism” showed the lowest intensity compared to other expression elements. (Conclusions) This study analyzes the role of biomorphism in various artistic fields through the motif of life and analyzes the case through examples. Based on the factors of interactive sympathy between consumers and spaces in accordance with social and cultural flow, it is analyzed that space can become the medium of communication by applying the expression characteristic of the motive, thereby maximizing the efficiency of the space. As a result, it is intended to be an academic help.
