As previously studied, we can classify influence that Lopuhov exerted on Russian ballet three kinds as follows :
the 1st : succeed to classic tradition. In the vortex of wars and revolutions, all records of ballet works were lost after Ptipa. Besides principal dancers and artists come to abroad as exiles at that time. Immediately after Revolution, 1917, Russian ballet was almost collapsed. Andthen, Lopuhov founded ballet company and started to restore ballet works with a sense of duty. Without any data, only with his memory and other dancers' help, Lopuhov recovered forms of classic ballet. And he replaced the parts not restored with his own choreography. In this way, "Sleeping Beauty", "Raymonda", "Don Quixote" were remaded. Ballet works performed in these days are based on what Lopuhov restored then. After that, other dancers continued to recover classic ballet. Finally, all works of Ptipa''s survived.
Books were published with lost data in England. And classic ballet based on those books was on the stage in England, too. However, Kirov ballet company has kept its position as the best up to now in classic ballet group. And Kirov's renown started from Lopuhov's prompt and resolute will to restoration.
The 2nd enlarged creative ballet sphere. His choreographies had great effect on offspring in two fields. Two fields were music and contents. When other dancers tried to ask and compose only for ballet works, Lopuhov applied all kinds of music to ballet works. He used music for the first time in Russia. His confidence of music was caused by his ability. In fact, he studied music up to musicians' level.
In contents, Lopuhov's choreographies were considerably exceptional. Subjects of his works were liberal and his works were free from any kinds of forms. His ideal and Philosophy were too avant-garde for soviet people to take in. However, passing through dark tunnel called Soviet era, his works has become the textbook to choreographers these days. He attempted various kinds of ballet, for example, symphoney ballet, unified play ballet, drama ballet, abstract ballet. And younger choreographers have completed ballet jenres above stated.
Though people being too familiar with Ptipa's classic ballet, Lopuhov kept creative works alive. Under the closed and uniform system of communism, he kept creative works alive.
We can say that his liberal mind and passion is too precious.
The 3rd : set up ballet as a study. Lopuhov taught music with his whole heart. And as a result of his effort, Leningrad Conservatory was founded. Moreover, he made George Balanchine and Boris Afman world famous choreographers. H. Baiarchikov and N. Dolgusin were the first graduates of choreography school. H. Baiarchikov is now a director of Maly theater and N. Dolgusin is a director of arts theater at Conservatory. They have kept the balance of the classic of Mariinsky. Teaching method school gradutes, Korgapkina and Komleva is leaders of Mariinsky theater. And, a theory school graduate, famous critic, Dunaevskoi has led dance group in Petersburg.
In former days, Russian ballet society emphasized stage-play only. However, Conservatory ballet school has produced various kinds of dancers majored in ballet history, music, stage set, costume, etc.
Ludmila Andreevna Linkova, a professor of Conservatory and Culture University, critic of ballet says that Lopuhov was the genuine reformer who had a tremendous impact on Russian ballet circle, and even if his achievments and works were not reported abroad at all as a typical victims of the Soviet era, the truth would be brought to light in 21c. We, critics think that Lopuhov was the genuine feformer who was placed after Noverre.
Lopuhov accomplished great achievments but his his life was not easy. His continuous experimental spirit and strong workmanship were often turned away. And he was prosecuted as the result of the Russian Revolution as typical victims of oppressions of Soviet era. But he never yielded to pressure. His genuine artistic spirit reconstructed ruined Soviet ballet in Soviet era and blossoms on all sides in Petersburg these days.
