Development and Effects of International Student Career Coaching Program: Focusing on N University*

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to develop a career coaching program for international students in Korea to improve the overall quality of life of international students and verify their effectiveness. Based on the career coaching program and previous studies related to international students in Korea, a SEE career coaching program for international students was developed, and in-depth online interviews were conducted with four applicants to verify their effectiveness. The developed program was conducted three times face-to-face with foreign student applicants enrolled in N University, and then online interviews were conducted. As a result, first, the motivation for applying is self-discovery and career choice. Second, the most impressive thing in the program is self-discovery. Third, the change caused by the program is the confidence in the career path through self-discovery. Fourth, although satisfied with the program as a whole, it requires continuous career coaching. This study is meaningful to develop a SEE career coaching program for international students necessary in a multicultural Korean society and to confirm the effectiveness, but we will work to modify and supplement it through various quantitative and qualitative studies in the future.
