The present study aimed to confirm the mediating effect of ambivalence over emotional expression on the relationship between adults’ negative self concept and paranoid tendency, and depressive tendency. Additionally, this study also examined difference according to subtypes of anger expression styles. The sample consisted of 450 male and female adults. The scales used in this stud y were the self concept questionnaire, AEQ-K(ambivalence over emotional expressiveness questionnaire-K), PS(paranoia scale), K-CESD-R(K-center for epidemiologic studies depression scale), and STAXI-K(state-trait anger expression inventory-K) .The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS and AMOS, and SEM analysis, bootstrapping, latent mean analysis, and multi-group path analysis were conducted. As a result, it was confirmed that self concept had a negative effect on depressive tendency and paranoid tendency, and ambivalence over emotional expression also had a mediating effect on the correlation between self concept and depressive tendency, and paranoid tendency. Comparison between a anger-in group and anger-out group indicated that anger-in group showed a higher level of self concept and lower levels of depressive tendency and paranoid tendency than anger-out group. In addition, the path coefficient from self concept t o depressive tendency, and paranoid tendency in anger-in group was lower, compared with path coefficients observed in a anger-out group. from the result s above, discussions of the current study and suggestions for the further stud y were described.
