      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      Korea has faced a 'population cliff' that rapidly shrinks in population due to factors such as falling birth rates. The organization of infantry squads will be transformed from 10 people to 8 people by the mid-2020s due to a decreasing in troop resource resulting from population cliff and this might be an in- evitable option. Since World War II, the US Army has made great efforts to create an optimal infantry squad organization. This study reveals the nature of infantry squad and shows implications through analyzing the transformation of the US Army infantry squad from World War II. Based on the analysis this study proposes a variety of advanced ways to keep the abilities of shooting and maneuver even though the num- ber of infantry squad members are reduced.
