한강의 ｢아기부처｣에 나타난 혐오의 폭력성과 공거의 윤리

This article examined the relationship between the subject and the other in the Han Gang’s novel “Baby Buddha” and the aspect of ethics. This article used Judith Butlers concept of ethical subject. The ethical subject reflects on his/her own condition of establishment, universal norms, and aims to cohabitation with others while being aware of the subjects physical vulnerability and other natural inertia.
In Chapter 2, focusing on his burn scar, the process in which the abnormalities is differentiated by universal norms, becomes an object of disgust, and only the normal is composed of the subject was examined. In Chapter 3, the process of eradicating otherness by the self-identical subject “I” and suppressing others was examined in the order of “sympathy,” “hate,” and “favor and punishment.” In Chapter 4, we looked at the process in which the subject “I” realizes the subjects fundamental vulnerability and interdependence with others through reflective reflection, recognizes otherness, and aims to cohabitation with others.
