The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the development of program designed to promote self-concept : the previous studies on self-concept were researched and the applicable tentative plan was suggested by collecting the child's self-concept activities.
For this purpose, this study set the following research subjects.
1. It analyzes the factors which have an effect on the formation of self-concept, and investigates their effect.
2. It examines the relation between the self-concept and the cognitive domain.
3. It suggests the tentative program which is designed to promote self-concept and applicable to the preschool curriculum.
For this study, documentary study and case study were carried out.
The results of the study are as follows :
1. In addition to innate factors, acquired factors-parents, teacher, and self-concept activities-had a great effect on the formation of the child's self-concept.
2. Self-concept and cognitive domain proved to be closely related.
3. The children aged 5~6 generally showed positive response to self-concept activities.
Accordingly, self-concept activities had an effect on the promotion of the child's self-concept.
