This study conducted an in-depth interview with five first-line instructors, who underwent changes to the methods and standards of Pum(Dan) promotion tests in Taekwondo since the outbreak of COVID-19, on problems with such tests and directions of their improvement to propose the future directionality of Pum(Dan) promotion tests in Taekwondo. The study reached the following conclusions: First, the COVID-19 situation temporarily allowed visiting tests, and people were able to experience the possibilities of changing the standards and forms of Pum(Dan) promotion tests in Taekwondo including small-sized Pum(Dan) promotion tests at a Taekwondo studio without following the old test standards. Second, the unity and equality of test content and the accuracy of assessment fit for each Pum(Dan) should be applied to all trainees equally to prevent the authority of the Pum(Dan) promotion tests and the values of Dan certificates from dropping in Taekwondo and increase the quality of tests. Third, an environment should be created to measure and evaluate properly the training degree of trainees by evaluators with a regular test ground or visiting test by growing out of the old test methods that have faced many issues in order to increase the test quality. Finally, supervisors should be dispatched to test implementation organizations so that they can assess test implementation and create an environment to apply the same test regulations to 17 municipal or provincial associations. In addition, there is a need for an institutional device to assess and manage the qualification of members in the test evaluation committee by applying an evaluation system to them.
