중국의 대국굴기와 홍콩 사회 및 중국 연구기관의 변화 * = The rising of China and changing of social and academic environment in Hong Kong

국문 초록 (Abstract)

홍콩의 중국연구기간은 1949년부터 지금까지 중국 연구의 주요 역할을 해왔으며, 많은 학자들은 홍콩을 통하여 중국 관련 많은 자료를 쉽게 찾아왔다.
1997년 홍콩이 중국에 반환된 후에도 한국, 대만, 일본을 포함한 구미의 많은 학자들이 홍콩을 방문하여 중국관련 자료를 찾고 있는데, 이것은 중국을 연구하는 여러 분야 학자들이 홍콩의 연구소를 통하여 중국관련 자료를 쉽게 찾을 수 있기 때문이다. 홍콩지역의 중국연구 허브로써의 가치는 오랜 역사를 갖고 있는데, 1997년 이후로는 역으로 중국의 많은 학자와 학생들이 홍콩을 방문하여 서방 학자들이 중국에 대해 어떤 견해를 갖고 있는지 알아보는 학술탐구의 기능을 하고 있기도 하다. 특히, 홍콩 중문대학의 중국연구복무중 심은 현재도 중국 연구에 대한 전반적인 서비스를 제공하고 있는 곳으로 유명하다.
중국연구복무중심은 1963년 구미 학자들이 당대 중국을 연구하기 위해 설립되어 운영되다가 1988년 홍콩 중문대학에 합병되었다. 이 연구센터는 오랜 기간 동안 현대 중국에 대한 전반적인 연구에 도움이 되는 기반시설을 갖추고 홍콩 및 해외 중국 연구 학자들에게 편의를 제공해 왔고, 현재에는 많은 중국내 학자들이 이곳을 방문하여 외부학계와 접촉하며 학술교류를 하는 장소로 활용되고 있다. 이러한 홍콩의 중국 반환과 홍콩지역 여러 중국 연구소의 기능변화는 중국의 부상을 실제적으로 반증하는 것이라고 본다.

Hong Kong has been being a main role of researching China studies from 1949 to now. We can easily find so many sources and data about China before and now. Although Hong Kong had returned to mainland China, but we can easily find so many academic data there, therefore so many scholars of Korean, Taiwan, Japan, westerns including Chinese still visit Hong Kong for their China studies.
China studies in Hong Kong including human arts and social science has a long history. When someone can not visit and research mainland China directly, he or she can visit Hong Kong and take data and source on China there. Now so many scholars from mainland China also visit Hong Kong study and research and exchange the view point with western scholars. At any rate Hong Kong is still keeping his good position of studying sinology.
The Universities Service Centre for China Studies (USC) is one of the main research center for China studies before and now.
The Universities Service Centre for China Studies (USC), since its establishment in 1963 by a group of western scholars, has been dedicated to contemporary China Studies. After it was transferred in 1988 from the American Council of Learned Societies to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, it not only maintained its original functions but endeavors to build up a first class collection on contemporary China and improve services to a growing China study community. Now we can easily find so many mainland scholars visit Hong Kong for researching and taking experience on outside viewpoint. These kinds of changes China research center in Hong Kong means that China has been rising now and on.
