Objective: This study aimed to investigate changes in abdominal muscle thickness according to changes in hip joint flexion angle when applying the Abdominal Drawing-in maneuver in the supine position.
Method: Participants were 26 healthy adult men and women. Changes in the thickness of the abdominal muscles were examined using ultrasound in the supine position with the hip joint flexion at 45 degrees and 55 degrees, respectively.
Results: Changes in thickness of the transversus abdominis, internal oblique muscles and external oblique muscles according to hip flexion angle were not statistically significant. The preferential activation ratio for the transversus abdominis muscle according to hip joint flexion angle was not statistically significant.
Conclusion: Although it was not statistically significant, it is believed that continued research on hip joint posture for efficient Abdominal Drawing-in maneuver is needed.
