This study aims to examine the “urban changes based on the physical environment” of the manufacturing district, an aspect that has been insufficiently explored in previous research on the history of Euljiro. To achieve this, the analysis is divided into three periods: the Japanese colonial era, post-liberation, and after the designation of the Sewoon Redevelopment Zone in 2006. The study analyzes the urban changes within Sewoon District 5 using cadastral maps, identifying the characteristics of parcel divisions and mergers during each period. Additionally, it seeks to infer the reasons and timing of these changes. Through this research, the study aims to uncover the urban characteristics of Euljiro that reflect its role in accumulating the “history of urban industrial areas.”
