<ChoWanByuk-jeon> is a work that wrote about the experiences of Cho, Wan-Byuk who was a classical scholar and got to be a prisoner when JungYuJaeRan took place in 1597. The purpose of this study is to learn descriptive property of <ChoWanByuk-jeon> that LeeSuGwang wrote and work ethic of LeeSuGwang. The experience of ChoWanByuk was wrote by scholars of the Realist School of Confucianism of 18th century, let alone writers centering around acquaintances of LeeSuGwang, and it`s left as a biography by LeeSuGwang, JungSaSin and AhnJungBok. Among them, the academic characteristic and in dividual experience of works of LeeSuGwang has a close relationship with descriptive property of <ChoWanByuk-jeon>. The contents of <ChoWanByuk-jeon> are focused on experiences and knowledge that ChoWanByuk gained from Eastern Asia countries. Especially customs, persons and local products are described very realistically and objectively. This descriptive property is closely related with LeeSuGwang`s interest in Eastern Asia world and his academic characteristic. LeeSuGwang had constantly been interested in Eastern Asia world, and he`s assessed as the leading scholar of the Realist School of Confucianism for he represented an academic attitude considering proof and historical research. To this LeeSuGwang, the experience of ChoWanByuk is very enough to attract his interest. LeeSuGwang kept his factual attitude representing specific numbers and names and referring to volumes of China when he mentioned knowledge of ChoWanByuk. And it is confirmed that significant amount of information about Eastern Asia countries were made out of describing technique, and so the relationship between literature and works of LeeSuGwang can be assumed. Besides, the experiences and knowledge that we can read on <ChoWanByuk-jeon> is a description that just only some part of it being enlarged and summarized regardless of time sequence. Especially it is confirmed that AhnNam and sea route are enlarged very much. This property of description is very useful to provide specific information, and it arose from LeeSuGwang`s confidence as a writer consequently. The scene of party that have us know that his writing was well known in AhnNam appears in the earliest part of it through it doesn`t have any relationship with the whole description of the work. LeeSuGwang must have felt much confidence in that his poem that he wrote as a part of diplomacy was known largely in AhnNam. And it seems that this was the most direct motivation that <ChoWanByuk-jeon> could be wrote and it had great effect on the descriptive structure and process of the work. Other than that, experience on the sea route has fictiveness and reenacted with vivid description. This literary projection is greatly differentiated from the original stand of realistic description, which is LeeSuGwang`s expression of awe toward supernatural power and the mean to show his literary ability. LeeSuGwang`s <ChoWanByuk-jeon> is a work that has a unique property as for the period of his era, and the vividness of the information it contains has a great meaning for modern society. As LeeSuGwang is being assessed as the leading scholar of the Realist School of Confucianism, <ChoWanByuk-jeon> shall be verified as a work that contains his literary characteristic and individual experience.
