나치의 장애인 탄압에 대한 독일교회의 태도에서 살펴본 교회의 사회적 책무성의 신학적 고찰 = A Theological Examination of the Church’s Social Responsibility through the German Church's Attitude toward Nazi Persecution of the Disabled

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 문헌 연구로써 나치의 장애인 강제적 불임시술과 안락사 프로그램의 탄압 정책에 대한 당시 독일교회의 태도에 대해 알아본다. 이를 통해 기독교 세계관적 입장에서 교회의 본질적인 사회적 책무성에 대해 신학적 입장에서 탐색하고자 한다. 나치 정권의 장애인 탄압 정책은 오로지 ‘인종’과 ‘유용성’을 기준으로 장애인과 정신질환자들을 ‘살 가치가 없는 목숨’으로 간주한 결과 였다. 이에 대해 당시 대부분의 기독교계 교회도 나치 정권의 장애인 정책에 대해 무관심이나 동조 및 협력적 태도를 보였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해 세 가지 함의가 도출되었다. 첫째, ‘하나님의 형상’에 따라 창조된 모든 인간의 절대적이고 무조건적인 존엄성을 가진 인간관의 정립이 필수 요소이다. 둘째, 교회와 그리스도인의 사회적 책무성에는 장애인에 대한 차별이나 분리보다는 통합적 교회 사역이 포함된다. 셋째, 교회와 국가 관계의 핵심은 모두 하나님의 주권과 통치권 속에서 각자 고유한 기능과 역할을 인정하고 협력과 존중을 통해 하나님의 뜻을 이루는 일이라 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines the attitude of the German church at the time regarding the Nazi repressive policies of forced sterilization and euthanasia programs for the disabled through a literature review. Through this, it seeks to explore the essential social responsibility of the church from a theological perspective within the context of a Christian worldview. The Nazi regime's policies of oppression against the disabled were the result of considering the disabled and the men- tally ill as ‘lives unworthy of living’, based solely on criteria of ‘race’ and ‘use- fulness’. In response, most Christian churches at the time displayed attitudes ranging from indifference to complicity and cooperation regarding the Nazi re- gime's policies on the disabled. Three implications were derived from these re- search findings. First, establishing a view of humanity that recognizes the ab- solute and unconditional dignity of all human beings created in the ‘image of God’ is an essential element. Second, the social responsibility of the church and Christians includes inclusive church ministry rather than discrimination or seg- regation toward the disabled. Third, the core of the relationship between the church and the state lies in fulfilling God's will through cooperation and re- spect, while acknowledging each other's unique functions and roles within God's sovereignty and authority.
